NEW DELHI: Two Jammu and Kashmir policemen were today martyred in an ongoing encounter in Kupwara's Halmatpora.

Four unidentified terrorists were killed in the operation last night in a forest area in the district.

The encounter was triggered when terrorists fired at a joint party of the Army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police, said defence spokesman (Srinagar) Col Rajesh Kalia.
The operation was aided by the Army's Para Commandos.
A police officer said that a joint team of the Army's 41 Rashtriya Rifles and SOG launched the operation following inputs about the movement of seven foreign terrorists in the area.
