Preparations has been started to bring Mallya to India. At the end of 2017, the extradition proceedings against Mallya were initiated, which he opposed in the court. Mallya is now out on bail in London. This was the first action taken under the FEOA in India because this law was made in the recent past. On June 22, last year, the ED had sought special PMLA court to declare Mallya a fugitive economic offender. At the same time, the ED got all rights to seize all property worth over Mallya's estimated 12,000 crores under PMLA.

There is a provision in the FEO that if an arrest warrant has been issued against a person and he has left India to avoid criminal proceedings or is abroad or refuses to return to India, then he will face a criminal trial. In the 2009 elections, the Congress brought veteran leader Meenakshi Natarajan from here to defeat them. This move of Congress proved to be successful and here its drought is over. However, in the next elections i.e., 2014, Natarajan faced defeat of BJP's Sudhir Gupta.

In this case, the Mandsaur Lok Sabha seat is a predominantly seat of BJP. Laxminarayan Pandey has gone on a lot of magic and he has won the highest number of 8 elections. Congress has won this seat in four elections. There are 8 seats in the assembly under Mandsaur Lok Sabha constituency. Jawra, Suvasara, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Garhott, Javad, Malhargarh, Manasa are the assembly seats here. 7 of the 8 assembly seats here is occupied by BJP and 1 on the Congress.

Mandsaur is the district of Madhya Pradesh which is very popular for Hindu and Jain temples. Prior to independence, it was part of Gwalior principality. Mandate of 2014

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP's Sudhir Gupta won here. He defeated Meenakshi Natarajan of Congress Sudhir Gupta got 698335 votes, while Meenakshi Natarajan got 394686 votes. The difference between victory in both of them was 303649 votes. The Aam Aadmi Party was at the third spot with 88 percent votes.

Before this, Meenakshi Natarajan won the 2009 election. He defeated BJP's, Lakshminarayan Pandey. In this election, Natarajan got 373532 votes while Pandey got 342713 votes. Lakshminarayan Pandey won this election with 30819 votes.
